Doing Portraits Of Animals
There are a lot of worries that come with giving someone a present. Usually knowing if the receiver liked the gift takes some time. The wait can especially be suspenseful when the recipient is the president of the United States. It was mandatory that she sign a visitors log before she could be able to give her gift. The package was of Little Man the president's horse and the guard was then the one in charge of finally delivering it to him. This artist lives on Old National Pike with her husband and son and is known for her animal portraits. Upon learning art and then animal portraiture, she was able to take her love of animals and make it her business. After her son was born, she created her business and now it is very successful.
Using the photographs of the animals as her base, she uses pastels to them transform them into portraits. Her horse portraits are copies of show photos sometimes. Having done portraits with horses, cats, dogs, a goat, parakeets and guinea pigs she shared that each one has touched her heart. It is easy for her now to make paintings with furry animals but now she wants to make one for fishes and turtles utilizing oil paintings. Using all her imagination and creative she makes sure that each animal is drawn in such a way that each portrait will become successful.
She says she had the idea of drawing Little Man several months ago, so she wrote the President's wife for photos from which to work. After a month or so she was able to hear back from the Special Assistant to the President and Director of Correspondence and get photographs of the president and the horse. The usual way she worked with animal portraits was not followed it this project. Usually she goes to the animal's home and meets the pet and owner, getting to know the animal's personality a bit and making notes on color, as a color photo often will not be true. Even though the project was still being worked on, she received news of Little Ma's death. She said that hopefully the portrait will mean more to the President now. There were four stages involved in her work, which she made sure she finished. Wanting to make an outline that displayed the dark, medium and light shadow tones, she used pastel and this was the first thing she did. Using her fingertips she them blended in the color seeing to it that all areas were taken into account.
The background is them worked on and for this project light blue was chosen. According to the artist the final step was to make the portrait look real. The artist exhausted a lot of time making that the details were accurate and that the portrait looked real.
Little Man's portrait was a made out of the goodness of her heart. It is in Poolesville where you can find her horse since she herself loves them. She even has a cat, a dog and a goat. She is happy to make the portrait for the president as she shares it to others.
