'tis the Season for Themed Party Planning; 5 Tips to Get You Started
The season is upon us that begs for excellent Parties and I intent to give you some cool ideas. I won't do all of the work here, but if nothing else, I will point you in the right direction.
With all of the tough economic news out there, and with some cutting Parties in the workplace, you may be faced with doing it your self. Why depend on someone else anyway. Wasn't this country founded on the precepts of individual resourcefulness? Of course it was. Why should Partying be any different? With that being said, let's give you some ideas on how to pull it off.
First you need to look at what you have to offer, i.e., what are your ideas. You know a fabulous idea is to actually give a fun survey out to some of you peeps about your ideas. Have several ideas that you like and use evite or something to get some initial feedback on them. This does a couple of things. First, it gets your friends engaged in the process and Second, if you do adopt an idea that several were passionate about, you will have a natural volunteer base that will take some of the work load off of you.
Second, ya gotta get organized. I mean, you have have got to pull in the best resources to make this Theme Party the best. So, that will involve getting a pretty solid plan behind you that will pull all the resources together that you will need to put on a fantastic Party. This requires a good idea on where, when, who is invited and the resources you will need to put it on.
Notice, we have not really decided on the Theme yet, although you may have some solid ideas from your surveys you put out.
Third, be certain that all responsible for the Party, even if it is just you and one or two helpers, have a blurb about the Party that is consistent. In a way, you could call it an "Elevator Speech." For those that don't know what one is, an Elevator Speech is a speech that you could say quickly while riding in an elevator that would get get your point across as to the nature of whatever you are talking about. In this case, it is the Party. The reason you want everyone on the same page is so no one promises something that won't be delivered. There is nothing worse than someone going to an Event on a promise of something happening and it does not. Make the quick speech exciting and quick to arouse the peoples attention that may be attending.
Fourth, have a great marketing plan. Even if it is a party at your home, you have got to be a great marketer. Play to your intended audience and don't veer off of the track. Don't try to be something to everybody. If you are targeting a certain group, then have a consistent message and a plan of attack to reach that group. It is when a marketing message gets watered down in it's own creative juices that it becomes bogged down.
An example of that: Have you ever watched a very creative and maybe "Artsy" commercial on TV and, after it was over, had no idea what the product was that was being advertised? That's the point. Have fun with your campaign but don't get too clever.
Finally, the Party is the thing. It should not be so stressful that it ends up being such an albatross around your neck that you will be damned if you ever do it again. It should be fun to plan and fun to put on. And in the end, everyone should be glad they came.
Every Event in Your Life Should Be a Party, just make sure it is worth the effort.

Frequently Asked Questions...
What is the best urban neighborhood in Dallas for a family if my husbands office is in West Plano?
We have a baby but will also need extra room for family visiting regularly. I'm hoping to settle into a more urban area- maybe Preston Hollow or Addison (?) but my husband is really worried about commuting to West Plano every day for work. We are professionals but also very artsy and love the idea of walking to markets and resturants from home. Neither one of us knows North Dallas so any feedback would be very helpful!
Answer:
Frisco is on the NW border of Plano...15-20 years ago I would of called it rural, but for a number of years it was considered the fastest growing city in America, believe it has over 100k now.... a number of fortune 500 companies have their corporate offices up there. They have a AA farm team of the Rangers based there that play in a modern stadium with a lot of market / restaurants /parks built in the general area made for foot traffic.
