Tips For Gas Chainsaw Maintenance
Do you own a gasoline powered chainsaw? You will need to keep it in good operating condition. You can take certain steps to make sure that your saw works well. This may help you to avoid injury or unsafe conditions. Here are some chainsaw tips to consider.
Using the right fuel ratio is vital to your chainsaw engine. You may have too much oil and not enough gasoline. This can foul your spark plug and carburetor. If your fuel mixture has too little oil, it can damage your engine. You can buy oil already measured for certain models like Husqvarna chainsaws. This makes mixing fuel an easy thing to do.
Always check your chain before using your saw. If your blade is getting dull, make sure that it is sharpened. There should not be too much slack in the chain. You will need to adjust the tension regularly. Not all chainsaws will adjust the same. Some may be different from other models. Check with the information that came with your saw, to be certain.
Your bar will wear out too soon if you do not rotate it. This should be done every ten hours of operation. This is important to keep the bar wearing even. Under normal operation, the bottom of the chain bar will catch more wear. When you rotate it, you switch the top and bottom. Make sure that the bar stays clean also.
Your chain has an oil system. Oil must be allowed to get to the chain. Make sure that the holes are clean and free of debris. Sometimes, sawdust or twigs can get in the chain. This material must be removed. Too much debris can make the chain jump from the bar. It also will clog your oiling holes. If the chain cannot get lubrication, it will wear out quickly. After you have cleaned the saw, clear you work area.
You may be using an inside workspace. All of that saw debris contains oil. It can be a safety hazard. Make sure that you clean it up with something like a shop vacuum. Although a Dyson upright vacuum cleaner will work, shop vacuums are better equipped for the job.
There is another thing to check before operating. Are all of the screws and bolts tight? Saws vibrate when running. It will loosen some things, in time.
Your air filter must be clean. If not, it will need to be cleaned or replaced. These filters may differ from model to model. For example, your Poulan chainsaw may have a completely different filter than your neighbor's chainsaw.
Summary
When you use a gasoline powered chainsaw, you operate powerful outdoor equipment. Proper maintenance will keep it running smoothly. It will also help you keep safe from possible injury.

Frequently Asked Questions...
I need instructions to build a chainsaw saw horse to be used with slabwood.?
I am cutting slabwood and would like to cut it off the ground at or around my waist height... I saw them before and would like to make my own so that after I cut the wood in lenghts they would not fall to the ground but stay in the cradle created by the saw horse...
THANKS in advance
Answer:
you can make a simple one just by nailing two 2x4's together to make an X for each side then connect them together with a couple more 2x4's on the lower half of the X. If you want something more heavy duty use 4x4's and notch them out.
