Wall Metal Art: Finished Versus Unfinished

Sometimes I may find a piece of art that I can create from scratch into a beautiful portrait to hang on my wall. It takes a lot of work, time, and money. There are other times I am in a hurry I want to find that "perfect" wall metal art that is already put together so all I have to do is hang it somewhere in my house. Which is cheaper to purchase? Some people may say that one is cheaper than the other or vice versa.
One day I was in Roberts Craft Store ready to purchase a piece of wall metal decor for my Mother's birthday. I wanted it to be meaningful for her so I was going to find a magnet board to paint and decorate. I found a variety of magnet boards all sorts of sizes and was comparing prices. The cheapest magnet board I could find was a square magnet board that was small and would end up costing me $35 dollars. That doesn't include paint or extra designs I would add to it after the paint dried. I couldn't succumb to that price. Well never mind on that! I thought there has to be something already finished that I can take it home and wrap it up and just give it to her that is cheaper or same price.
I decided I needed to walk around the store and look at the finished wall metal art isles. I walked up and down and found a variety of wall metal decor. I found the exact magnet board that I previously was looking at. It was the same size. It was painted, and styled up and finished so all I had to do was purchase it and take it home to be wrapped up. I was excited to purchase this, but thought, "oh great this is going to cost a lot more than the $35 dollar unfinished board." I picked it up turned it over looking carefully for the price tag. I found it to be only $28 dollars. It didn't make sense that the finished board was cheaper than the unfinished board.
I took it to the checkout counter to purchase. As I was checking out I asked the cashier why this was cheaper. She said that it was end of season for that particular decor and we need to get them sold so we can bring in for the new season more wall metal art. The unfinished boards will never need to be out of season. There always a need to work and style your own work of metal wall art. When the cashier rang me up my total was $18 dollars. It was forty percent off of the original price because it was out of season.
Lesson learned at Roberts Craft Store; make sure to watch out for the finished work metal wall art. They will be on clearance at one point or another. In my mind I would prefer to have it already finished so all I have to do is bring it home and hang it on a wall. Don't get me wrong. It is fun to create your own work of art with unfinished wall metal art, but if you are looking at the cost, keep an eye on the clearance section for the finished art. They have a wide variety that will be worth your money and time. Check out other craft stores to find similar ideas that Roberts has. Keep a close eye on the wall metal art that is finished. You will find it cheaper compared to unfinished.
